Making wafs

After hours of grueling work fighting with a dull unibit, I finished
4 more wing attach fittings. If I get another 2 coats on these by
Friday and my bolt order from wicks shows up, I'll be mounting at
least one outer spar this weekend!

rear outer wing spars

Trimmed and varnishes the inside and back of the rear outer wing spars.

Moving some work home

At lunch today, I packed up everything I needed to finish the outer
rear spars and wing attach fittings. I hope to finish some of these
this week so I can mount wing spars next weekend.

Special ride

I got a ride in my tech counciler's Dragonfly today. It was a fun
flight and I certainly learned a few things.

He did quite a dance on the rudder pedals to keep the tail end of the
plane from becoming the leading end going down the runway! Tail
draggers may be more difficult than I thought!

I also found it uncomfortable to keep my feet up and away from the
pedals. I think I may reconsider pedals on the passenger side and
make them just on the pilot side.

Thanks for the ride Ray!

Glued rear outer spars

Today dad and I glued up the 2 outer rear spars and I cleaned up the
paint on some of the wing attach fittings. I found painting on the cardboard left parts sticking to the cardboard and paint was pulled off when I picked up parts. I decided to hang and spray all the parts and this seemed to work much better.

Painting

Over several nights this week I primed and painted many of the
brackets and wing attach fittings after dad and I spent a night
cleaning up a few wing attach fittings that got rusty. Paint your
metal parts asap after making them!
